Private Medical Insurance Referrals

Balanced Life Physiotherapy is recognised by many of the major private health insurance providers for physiotherapy treatment.

Our physiotherapists are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), meeting the professional requirements of most private health insurers.

Using your private health insurance

If you have private medical insurance, you should contact your insurance provider before starting treatment to check that physiotherapy is covered under your policy and to obtain your pre-authorisation or claim number.

Depending on your insurer and policy, Balanced Life Physiotherapy may be able to invoice your insurance company directly. This means you may not need to pay for your treatment upfront and then claim the cost back yourself.

Please bring your insurance details, including your policy or membership number and pre-authorisation or claim number, to your first appointment if you would like us to invoice your insurer directly.

Please note that insurance policies vary, and you are responsible for checking your individual level of cover. If your insurer does not cover the full cost of your treatment, any outstanding balance will be payable by you.

For insurance companies based overseas, we can provide receipts detailing your treatment and payments, which you can use to make a claim where your policy allows.

Things to check with your insurer

Before booking your treatment, we recommend asking your insurance provider:

  • Is there an excess on my policy?
  • Do I need to contribute towards the cost of my treatment?
  • How much cover do I have for physiotherapy?
  • Is there a maximum number of physiotherapy sessions or a monetary limit?
  • Do I need a referral from my GP or a specialist before I can claim?
  • Does my physiotherapy cover form part of an overall allowance for specialist treatment?
  • Is there a time limit within which I need to complete my treatment once it has started or authorisation has been given?

Your insurer will be able to confirm the specific requirements and conditions of your policy.

Please contact your insurance provider before commencing treatment to ensure you have the appropriate authorisation and level of cover.
