Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future.
It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient directly in their own care.
Physiotherapy includes an assessment and a treatment plan that will be explained and implemented. Physiotherapy uses a combination of joint mobilisations, soft tissue release techniques, stretches, ultrasound, Kinesio-taping, exercises and advice to manage the condition. Physiotherapy can also be used alongside acupuncture, aromatherapy, sports massage, Yoga and Pilates in any combination to ensure the best outcome for each individual condition.
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.
Yoga is a complete exercise to create strength, flexibility, balance, by improving posture and awareness of the physical body. In addition it can help to manage and reduce the effects of the stresses of life.
Physiotherapy and Yoga create the perfect blend to assess, manage and improve a variety of physical aches and pains, assisting you in being stronger, confident and healthier both physically and mentally.
Yoga can be used as part of a rehabilitation program for a variety of conditions and patients-offering a whole body and mind work out that is relevant to each individual.
Small group and 1:1 Yoga sessions will also be available.
Aromatherapy a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it's called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health. An additional bespoke Aromatherapy blend can be made for aftercare.
Gua Sha is the practice of using a tool to apply pressure and scrape the skin to relieve pain and tension. Benefits include improving blood flow, releasing muscle tension and reducing pain in the joints and body.
Cupping This treatment causes light bruising, which often appears as purple or red spots known as petechiae or sha. According to traditional Chinese medicine, qi or chi is energy that flows through the body. It is believed that a person’s qi (energy) must be balanced and flowing freely to ensure their health and well-being. People also believe that qi can become blocked, causing pain or tension in the muscles and joints. Gua sha aims to move this blocked energy to relieve aches or stiffness.
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese Medicine that uses sterile needles into points along the body known as meridians. Acupuncture acts to reduce pain, induce relaxation and stimulate the bodies natural healing process.
Acupuncture is particularly beneficial for joint pain, headaches and migraine and can be used for many conditions alongside physiotherapy.
